(iii) The Resurrection proves that love is stronger than hatred. But flesh and blood can't inherit the kingdom of heaven, so I've got to have a new body. Hence too, in the cross, the Jew found his stumbling-block for he expected a Messiah in power and glory. "God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able." Even as one man brought death, so by one man are many made righteous and have that eternal life and that hope of life through Him. Foot washing is practiced by some groups today, but from the general church practice it has been dropped, because it doesn't pass the full criteria. Only that which is true will live, time devours the false the death-warrant of every false doctrine is signed. This deep conviction sustains our spirit to continue to the end with joyful confidence, John 4:36. Hence this apostolic assurance: having realized that our labor is not empty in the Lord. If the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised and if Christ has not been raised your faith is worthless, you are still in your sins and, if that is so, those who died trusting in Christ have perished. Death will be the last enemy to be reduced to helplessness. Now, the Bible does teach that when Jesus comes for His church those that are asleep in Christ will He bring with Him at His coming. Match if you can the manumission he has got.
Hence the apostle Paul, in the latter part of chap.
"And so they died in faith not having received the promise. What Paul is contending for is that after death the individual remains. One of these days I'm going to receive a new body from Jesus. It is interesting to note that in the Greek this is a present tense, and not past. They had not entered in the smallest degree into the spirit of the moral glory of Christ humbled here below.
